Description

A beautifully engraved table of the winds, with heads suspended in clouds blowing onto a central compass rose, with concentric rings listing the names of the winds in Greek, Latin, Italian, German, French and Dutch. Originally issued 1650 as the first plate in Jansson's atlas of sea charts (Vol. V of the 'Atlas Major'), this example comes from the Jansson/Hornius Atlas of the Ancient World.
