Description

A very rare seperate-issue map of Scandinavia, the Baltic States and wester Russia, published in the first year of the Russo-Swedish War, which was started by the autocratic Gustav III of Sweden to counter his own unpopularity. Under the map are insets of the naval Battle of Hogland (17th July 1788) and the Russian fortresses of Nyslott (Savonlinna in Finland) and Vyborg (Russian Karelia), which were both targets of Swedish offensives.
