Description

Ten views of the imperial city engraved after Louis Nicolas de Lespinasse, published in Nicolas-Gabriel le Clerc's 'Histoire physique, morale, civile et politique de la Russie moderne'. Lespinasse (1734-1808) based these view on the engravings by Mikhail Ivanovich Makhaev (1719-70), who helped John Truscott with his monumental nine-sheet map of St Petersburg of 1753.
