A pamphlet with a large bird’s-eye view of Washington D.C.

A tourist's guidebook to Washington, with photographic images of the important sights, with an incredibly detailed folding bird's-eye view of the city. Taken from above the Library of Congress, with the Capitol and the offices of the Senate and House of Representatives in the foreground, it looks up a little east of north, towards Chevy Chase, with the Lincoln Memorial and the Arlington Cemetery top left and Howard University top right. The important buildings, like the White House, Treasury and The Washington Times are named and an extensive key allowing them to be located is underneath. On the reverse is a plan of the B&O lines from New York via Washington to Chicago and St Louis. The text box bottom right notes that, despite being a 'bird's-eye view', William Olsen sketched it from the ground, taking two years. The text describes the view as ''the most remarkable map picture that has ever been made'' and Olsen as ''the greatest Bird's-Eye View artist in the country''.
