Description

A French map of the area around Mumbai, orientated with north to the left, showing the Konkan coast north to Surat, with the outline on the British Fort George on Bombay Island. as well as the surrounding Gujarat countryside, communities and infrastructure. Marked on the adjacent island of Salcet is a monument marking the most eastern point of Alexander the Great’s conquests. Pages, a French naval officer circumnavigated the globe in 1767-76, recording his experiences and journey in his 1782 "Voyages autour du Monde et vers les deux poles", with this map.
