A woodcut illustration of an elephant which appeared in 'Of the Excellency of Man', Book 2 of the 29 published in 'The workes of that famous chirurgion Ambrose Parey'.
Paré (c.1510-90) was a French barber surgeon, considered one of the fathers of surgery.
