John Anthony Cramer was an Anglo-American engraver, draftsman and map publisher active in the early nineteenth century, best known for producing American maps and views in a period when the young republic’s printed geography was rapidly expanding. Though relatively little secure biographical detail is commonly recorded under his name, his work matters as part of the skilled artisan network that translated surveys, plans and geographical compilations into marketable prints.

Cramer worked chiefly in New York, where he is associated with the publication and engraving of maps, including state and regional subjects, for an American audience.
