Description
A large and detailed sea chart showing the West Indies and the eastern mainland from Charleston south to Surinam and the Pacific coastline from Acapulco to the Gulf of Panama. It is derived from Henry Popple's 20-sheet map of America of 1733.
Of interest is the marked route of the Spanish galleons from Vera Cruz to Havana circling the Gulf of Mexico.
An early example: the plate was reissued by Dezauche c.1780, with a large title bottom left.
