Description

First Atlas Map of the Caribbean, and north-western Mexico Two maps on one sheet: the West Indies, Cuba, Hispaniola and the Bahamas, prepared by Ortelius himself; and Culiacán in south west Mexico. This map first appeared in the Additamentum of 1579, one of only three plates showing regions of America in the 'Theatrium Orbis Terrarum'. On both maps with the Tropic of Cancer is Capricorn.
