Description

A rare map of the environs of Pavia, orientated with north to the lower right. It was drawn by Lodovico Corte on a commission from historian Ottavio Ballada (1592-1661), and engraved by Giacomo Cotta (1627-89) of Bergamo. Besides the city of Pavia, Vercelli, Novara and Viegano are shown in perspective.

Condition:

Repaired tear entering plate lower right, repairs to old folds.
