Description

A fine vintage map of Norway, with a decorative title cartouche with putti and mer-people, and an inset map continuing the northern coastline. Despite being based on De Wit's map and having his name in the title, this map was first first published by Cornelis Danckerts in 1706. It was only in this third state that the Ottens brothers changed the name from Danckerts to De Wit, probably because of De Wit's superior reputation. A very fine example.

Condition:

A good example.

GINSBURG: 11, third and last state.
