Description

A rare plan of Leeuwarden, Friesland, engraved and published by Feddes (1586-c.1623) under his pseudonym 'Harlingensis'. It shows the defences of the city considerably improved since the Braun and Hogenberg plan dated 1580. That year Friesland rebelled against the Spanish Hapsburgs, joining the Eighty Years' War.

Condition:

Extra margins added on all sides, otherwise a very fine example.
