Description
A monumental map of Lanarkshire (now in eastern Strathclyde), on a scale of 1¾ inches to a mile, with a decorative title cartouche and a dedication to John Hope (1765-1823), Earl of Hopetoun, a Lieutenant General who took command of the British Army in Iberia after the death of Sir John More at the Battle of Corunna in 1809. A key and table of mountain heights are on tromp-l'oeil scrolls.
