Description
A French edition of the 'Atlas Coelestis', the celestial atlas by John Flamsteed of 1729. Flamsteed, the first Astronomer Royal, published a highly-influential Catalogue of Stars in 1688: in this edition the stars are still grouped into their classical constellations with their allegorical figures, but are graded more scientifically, with a scale of six Orders of Magnitude.
