Description

An unusual production, depicting a world map and a celestial map, both in single spheres, although Africa and South America spill into the cusps of the world map. The borders contain fourteen scenes from the Bible, including the Creation, Adam & Eve, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, Moses and the Ten Commandments, the Crucifixion and the New Jerusalem. The map was published in the 'Sacred Geographie, or Scriptual Mapps', with a dedication to John Tillotson, who was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1691 to 1694.
