Description

An early 18th century old map of Italy south of Rome, with a title cartouche of armorials held aloft by a merman, and a seashell for the key, Onthe left is an extensive engraved text description of the state, The map was first published with the engraved date of 1702: here the last digit has been removed. The dedication is to Philip V, grandson of Louis XIV, whose succession to the thrones of Spain, Naples and Sicily in 1700 sparked the War of the Spanish Succession.
