Description

A fine impression of Adam Olearius's bird's eye view of Moscow, one of the great 17th century images of the city. Centred on the Kremlin and the district of Kitya Gorod, it has an index to the many of the major buildings and notable areas. A cartouche of the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle. From the scarce first edition of Olearius's book describing his travels in Russia and Persia, 'Beschreibung der muscowitischen und persischen Reise'.
