Description

A finely engraved plan of Moscow as it was when Adam Ölschläger (Latinised as Olearius, 1599-1671) visited the city in 1634 while on a trade mission that took him to Isfahan in Persia. It is a bird's-eye view-map, with the buildings shown in profile, orientated with north to the right, with keys lower left and under the map. It was published in van der Aa'a monumental 'La Gallerie Agreable du Monde', published in 66 parts.

A very fine example.
