A scarce German edition of Pocock’s map of Cyprus

A rare map of Cyprus from 'Beschreibung des Morgenlandes und einiger anderer Länder' a German edition of Pococke's 'A Description of the East, and Some other Countries', first published in London in 1745. Pococke visited the island in 1738 and toured the island anti-clockwise. His work was the first new survey of the island since the expulsion of the Venetians. The original English map was engraved by Jefferys, and this version only translates the title, scale, longitude note and 'Das Mittellaendische Meer'.
