Description

A fascinating map of Europe made up of caricatures of each country, with an explanation bottom right. The main worry is the Russian octopus, with one tenticle wrapped around Persia's throat, another around Poland two more trying to tear Turkey in two, ignoring the gash in the tenticle in the Crimea. England prepares to intervene on Turkey's behalf, France & Germany eye each other carefully, and Italy is 'ruthlessly making a toy of the Pope'. Rose made a career of these maps: other versions exist dated as late as 1900.

Condition:

Binding folds flattened as normal in these maps, one small hole repaired with no loss of printed area.
