Description

A superb wall map of India and Sri Lanka, also detailing Afghanistan, Nepal (including Mount Everest), Burma and the Malay Peninsula, with parts of Tibet and Thailand. An inset shows the environs of Singapore. According to the inscription the map was begun in 1871, first published in 1888 and reissued with 'Additions to Railways in 1913. This example appears to be a deluxe presentation: the heavy spring-loaded roller's finish is of high quality, as is the canvas and the hand colour. As the roller is fully-functioning this map is an unusual find.

Condition:

In superb condition with vibrant original hand colour, slight toning in bottom edge and margin.
