Description

This highly detailed nautical map, produced in 1963 by the Maritime Safety Board of Japan, depicts the waters between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Based on the British Admiralty chart from 1960, it features annotations that reflect navigational corrections. The map spans from the southern Kowloon Peninsula and the central neighbourhoods of Hong Kong Island eastward to Tseung Kwan O (historically labelled Cheung Kwan O or Junk Bay), a new town established on reclaimed land in the 1980s. It includes critical information such as water depths, detailed compasses with magnetic variations, and navigational hazards, making it an essential resource for maritime navigation in this region.
