Description

An engraved lunar plate after Giovanni Domenico Cassini, illustrating the mean libration of the Moon together with a detailed mapped representation of its visible surface. The lunar disc is marked with forty numbered reference points, corresponding to named formations including Grimaldi, Kepler, Hermes, and Messala, and identifies the principal maria (lunar "seas").
