Description
An allegorical frontispiece representing the successes of the Holy League against the Turks, which included Venetian occupation of Dalmatia and the Morea. The Virgin Mary and four classical figures, including Hercules, have two Turks and a gorgon at their mercy. Mary's sceptre has a spearhead foot, which is embedded in a Turk's arm.
