Description

A fine miniature school atlas, with eleven maps of the ancient worlds and 44 contemporary maps. Although the engraved title page is dated 1798 there are two maps with the imprint 1804, updated because of Napoleon's conquests. Map 20, listed in the index as 'France divided into 83 Departments' is now 'One Hundred and Four Departm.ts'; and Map 31, listed as 'The States of Upper Italy', is now 'South Germany and Upper Italy with its New Divisions 1803'.

Condition:

Ink sketch on first preliminary, endpaper with repaired tear.
