Description
A map of the Greek or Eastern Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria. It is one of the five ancient patriarchates of the early church, called the Pentarchy.
The map was published in Nicolas Sanson's historical atlas 'Geographia Sacra ex Veteri et Novo Testamento Desumta'. The elaborate title cartouche is signed by Hendrik Elandt. Nicolas Sanson is often called the father of French Cartography.
