An uncommon map of Sicily

An early map of Sicily with ornate cartouches for the title and scale, the Sicilian coat of arms and an inset portrait of Philip II of Spain (1527-1598), who was also King of Sicily. The map was engraved by Johann Bussemacher for Quad's 'Geographisch Handtbuch'. A Latin-text version, 'Fasciculus Geographicus', was published in 1608. A fine dark impression.
