Description
A scarce map of the Eastern Seaboard of America from Cape Fear north and east to the Gulf of the St Lawrence and Newfoundland. An inset on the right sheet details the defensive walls of Louisbourg, the French fortress
Engraved by Luggert van Anse and originally published by Visscher c.1696, the interior is almost entirely conjectural, with the southern part of Hudson Bay, and lakes Ontario, Huron and Erie unrecognisable.
