Description

A detailed map of the Irawaddy River, made by Wood, an ensign during the British embassy to Amarapura under Irish diplomat Michael Symes (1761-1809). An inset map shows the layout of the city. Engraved by John Walker for Symes' ''An Account of an Embassy to the Kingdom of Ava, Sent by the Governor-General of India, in the Year 1795'', one of the first detailed accounts of Myanmar written in English.

Condition:

Trimmed close to neatline for binding, original folds.
