Description

An early bird's-eye engraved plan of Istanbul, published in the first volume of the Civitates Orbis Terrarum, the first series of printed town plans. Originally published in 1572, this example comes from the second state, with the last roundel in the series of portraits of the Turkish sultans filled by Murad III (1574-95).
