Description

A sketch map of Corfu, with part of the Albanian coastline and Paxos, during the attack of the Ottomans in 1716, part of the Seventh Ottoman-Venetian War 1714-8), It shows the positions of the fleets when the Venetians attacked and disrupted the landing of the Ottoman troops on the 8th of July. Although the Ottomans landed troops the walls of the city were too strong and, with the approach of Spanish and Portuguese ships, the siege was lifted on 21st August. A text lower right lists the armaments abandoned during their retreat.
