Description

A large map of Arabia, marking the routes of Persian caravans from Bassora and Indian caravans from the port of Al Qatif on the Persian Gulf, both ending at Mecca. Although more detailed mapping of the interior is evident, much from the Danish Arabia expedition (1761-7), the Persian Gulf is still virtually featureless, with attempt to depict the Qatar peninsula, evidence that Western navies were still unable to conduct surveys.
