Description

A large-scale topographical map of the Arabian Peninsula, produced as part of the Saudi Arabian Project by the United States Geological Survey and published in 1972 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The map depicts Saudi Arabia and its neighbours, including Qatar, Kuwait, and marks the United Arab Emirates, which had been established shortly before, in December 1971. The map records a wide range of physical, infrastructural, and economic features, including oil pipelines with pumping stations, international boundaries, lava flows and volcanic debris, and extensive desert formations.
