The scarce second Galle plate for Cyprus used in the ‘Epitome’

A fine example of the second plate of Cyprus prepared for Philippe Galle's version of the Ortelius 'Epitome du Theatre du Mond'. This second Ortelius-Galle plate is relatively uncommon, only appearing in five editions in as many years (1598-1603). Vrients purchased the plates for both this atlas and the competing Ortelius-Coignet version, preferring to publish the latter.
