Description

A fine map of Europe, engraved in 1584, the second of two near-identical plates published the Ortelius's world atlas, the 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum', identified by 'Africae Pars' in cursive script. It has a a title cartouche depicting Europa on the back of Zeus disguised as a bull.

Condition:

Old ink mss. in top margin.
