Description

A near mint example of this scarce map of Crete by Seutter, showing the island of Crete with surrounding islands in the upper area and a view of Heraklion in the lower part. The map area is supplemented by a decorative cartouche with maritime representations and a text about the island Santorini, which was newly created during a volcanic eruption in 1707. This is an early example, before Seutter was made Imperial Geographer in 1731.

Condition:

A good example.
