Description

A fine antique town plan of Rome based closely on the influential 1667 map by Giovanni Battista Falda, whose depiction of Rome became a standard model for later cartographers. The city is shown in detailed plan, recording its streets, churches, gardens, and principal monuments. Decorative elements include views of the principal pilgrimage churches, the arms of the city’s districts, and allegorical ornament, together with a papal coat of arms associated with the pontificate of Pope Benedict XIII.
