Description
A very fine example of this county map of Lincolnshire, first published in 1645, during the English Civil War. This example is from the uncommon Spanish text edition of the 'Atlas Major' (the rarest edition as it was incomplete when a fire destroyed the Blaeu printing works in 1672), issued after the Restoration. It is decorated with a pillar of armorials of the local nobles (including John of Gaunt), two Royal crests and a title cartouche with two putti holding a pair of compasses and a rule.
