Description

A fine plate of a clock designed to show the theory of daylight hours around the world. Within the 24-hour dial is a chart of the Northern Hemisphere, with California as an island. A sun lights two thirds of the surface. A German text surrounds the clock. The theories here led John Harrison to design the first clock to measure time accurately enough to ascertain longitude in the 1760s.

Condition:

Narrow margins, corners knocked, split in centre fold repaired.
