Description

A large and decorative map of North America, with a large island of California, with Agubela de Gato a peninsula of the mainland; 'Terre de Jesso' fills the north Pacific; and the Great Lakes are open-ended in the west. Alexis-Hubert Jaillot redrew Sanson's map of South America on a larger scale at the request of Sanson's heirs. After a dispute Jaillot passed his work to the Amsterdam publisher Mortier, who re-engraved the maps and issued his own 'Atlas Nouveau' still with the original attributions.
