Description

A map of the southwest, with California, Texas (still incorporating what became the state of New Mexico) and Mexico south to the Yucatan, On the map are marked the 'newly discovered Gold districts' in California, and the 'Great Caravan Route' across Utah. It is decorated with a foliate border attractive vignettes of gold panning, the ruins of Uxmal and Mexican peasants. The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin for the 'The Illustrated Atlas, and Modern History of the World, Geographical Political, Commercial & Statistical', edited by Montgomery Martin, which was one of the last decorative atlases to be published.

Condition:

A good example.
